We want to see our children happy. The thought that a child is suffering for a spiritual reason, anxious, sad, dreamy, angry, lonely, afraid, is difficult for the parent to bear. Yet these problems are present in the everyday lives of our children. Psychology can provide tools that can help. First of all, my task is to recognize and understand the problem more precisely, and to show the ways of possible help.

Of course, the majority of problems also arise from disturbances in the balance of the family environment, which the child, as a very sensitive instrument, immediately senses and indicates with behavioral disturbances. I never approach the child's problem alone, but in unity with the various systems. The family, kindergarten and school have a very important role in finding possible answers and help.

Another part of the problems arises from the development itself. As the child grows, lawful changes take place in his inner world, and his behavior may indicate that he cannot cope with something on his own. The main goal of supportive therapy is to restore the normal course of development.

I can call myself a lucky person because I work in a helping profession, and it is also my profession.

One of the decisive reasons why I chose child psychology is my belief that, at this early stage of life, the development of a major problem can be prevented with sufficient professional attention.

I also carry out supportive therapies, educational counseling, consultation, and family therapy in English.

Introduction

I completed my studies in the English department of psychology at the Elte BTK in 1975 as a pedagogical psychologist and English secondary school teacher.

I continued my career as a child psychologist in educational consultants and then as a kindergarten and school psychologist in children's institutions. Over the years, I worked in both areas in parallel, which provided me with great experience and help later in the management of the 6th District Educational Counseling and Unified Pedagogical Service. Back in the 80s, I was the first in Hungary – ahead of our time – to be a member of the psychological team that researched the possible application of behavior therapy in child psychology by exploring and translating the original professional publications and adapting and putting them into practice in Hungary. English and American study trips also supported the validity of this therapeutic approach in Hungary as well. It is now self-evident that cognitive behavior therapy and behavior modification are a defining element of the range of psychological therapies. In the course of my professional work, the practical application of the idea of integration and inclusion, for the benefit of other children with different developmental curves and their families, has always been a priority area.
